Harvest Right Oil Filter
Description
- The filter is not dishwasher safe.
-
Only use the filter with vacuum pump oil.
First Use:
- Unbox the cartridge and insert it into the cartridge holder.
- Press the cartridge firmly until it seals tightly.
Optional: Use the dial on the lid to note the month you last filtered the oil, for easy tracking.
Oil Filtration Instructions:
- Open the oil reservoir's drain valve to allow oil to drain into the filter. Lift the rear of the vacuum pump slightly to ensure all the oil is drained.
- Wait for the oil to filter through the system.
- After filtering, the oil and any water will separate naturally. The oil will float on top, while the water sinks to the bottom.
- Remove the water by pouring it off, leaving the oil behind. Do not pour the water back into the vacuum pump, as this can damage it.
- Pour the filtered or fresh oil into your vacuum pump.
How to Know Your Oil is Clean:
- The oil should be free of debris or particles.
- It should not appear milky or cloudy.
- It should be clear, typically yellow or amber in color.
- Your vacuum pump should achieve a suitable pressure (measured in mTorr) for freeze-drying.
When to Replace Your Oil Filter:
- If the oil no longer drains through the filter (which can happen as debris builds up).
- If the oil isn’t being properly cleaned (e.g., if it remains milky or full of debris).
How to Replace the Oil Filter:
- Replace the cartridge or order a new set from Harvest Right.
- Cartridges typically need to be replaced after 15-20 uses, or sooner if the oil quality is poor.
What's Included:
-
One free oil filter is included with each freeze dryer purchase.
